At The Sancton Group, safety isn’t just a priority—it’s a fundamental value. We are committed to ensuring that every team member works in a secure environment and returns home safely each day. This commitment is shared by everyone in the company.

Laying the Groundwork for Safety

Our dedication to safety begins even before our team members are hired. We ensure that every individual entering The Sancton Group is equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain a safe working environment. Basic safety training is provided to all employees from the outset, followed by a comprehensive Safety Orientation that familiarizes them with our safety protocols and expectations.

Moreover, we recognize that each worksite has its unique challenges and risks. To address these, all new hires undergo site-specific training tailored to the particular demands of their roles. This targeted approach ensures that our team members are not only aware of general safety practices but also prepared to handle the specific conditions of their work environment.

Mentorship and Protective Gear

We pair less experienced employees with mentors who guide them through our safety protocols. This ensures that they fully understand and follow safety procedures. Additionally, we provide all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect our workforce from potential hazards.

The Sancton Safety Townhall

In 2024, we introduced a new initiative that underscores our commitment to exceeding safety standards—the Sancton Safety Townhall. This annual event, held in both Halifax, NS and Saint John, NB, is mandatory for all employees. The Townhall serves as a platform for baseline safety education, including a WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) refresher course, and a review of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety. However, the Townhall is more than just an educational session. It is a crucial opportunity for a two-way dialogue about safety at The Sancton Group. We believe that safety is a shared responsibility, and by fostering open communication, we can better understand and address any concerns or suggestions our employees may have. This collaborative approach not only strengthens our safety culture but also empowers our team members to take an active role in maintaining and improving workplace safety.

Aiming Beyond Compliance

We don’t just aim to meet safety standards—we strive to exceed them. Our proactive approach to safety, combined with our commitment to continuous improvement, ensures that we are always looking for ways to enhance our safety protocols and practices. We understand that the well-being of our employees is paramount, and we are dedicated to doing everything in our power to create a safer and healthier work environment.

Workplace safety at The Sancton Group is a collective effort that begins before an employee’s first day and continues throughout their career. Through comprehensive training, mentorship, the provision of PPE, and initiatives like the Sancton Safety Townhall, we are committed to ensuring that every individual can work in a safe environment and return home to their loved ones safely. Together, we can achieve our goal of not just meeting but exceeding safety standards, and in doing so, we protect the most valuable asset of our company—our people.
